TALQ Consortium welcomes OSRAM GmbH as Regular Member
Published on 2012-11-05
2012-11-05 Today the TALQ Consortium announced that OSRAM GmbH has joined as Regular Member.
OSRAM is one of the leading light manufacturers in the world. This holds true both for classic and new lighting technologies, as well as related electronics and software. With LED-based products making up a share of about 25 percent of the total turnover, the company is setting the trend with regard to technological changes in the lighting market. 70 percent of its turnover comes from energy-efficient products.
“OSRAM fully supports the objectives of the TALQ Consortium, to enable the outdoor light management market by providing a standardized user software interface. This will immensely improve tendering procedures and choice for end customers.”, according to Matthias Fiegler, Head of Outdoor Systems of OSRAM. “We have supported the TALQ activities right from the start, and are now happy to join and contribute to the success of the consortium.”
“I’m glad that the TALQ Consortium has now welcomed OSRAM as Regular Member” said Gerard Lokhoff, the consortium’s Secretary General. “Support from a major lighting company as OSRAM is a clear indication the initiative is set to succeed in setting a global standard”.

About the TALQ Consortium
The TALQ Consortium brings together global lighting industry players, with the aim of creating a globally accepted standard for a management software interface for outdoor lighting networks. At present the market is characterized by a diversity of proprietary systems and interfaces. The lack of standards makes it difficult to integrate, operate and maintain management systems and is prohibiting the growth of outdoor lighting networks.
The TALQ Consortium aims to promote the application of outdoor lighting network systems by delivering and governing a well-defined software protocol specification for the interface between central management systems and outdoor lighting networks and by managing a promotion, certification and compliance program. It was founded June 2012 by Harvard Engineering, Kingsun, Philips, Schréder, Streetlight.Vision and Thorn/Zumtobel.
The TALQ Consortium plans to have a draft specification prepared by the end of 2012. More information is made available at www.TALQ-consortium.org.
